If I could have it any way I wanted, my story would start like Julie Taymor’s film adaptation of the William Shakespeare play “Titus Andronicus..” The bedraggled columns of Roman legions are returning from a long war with the Goths. It would all look very magnificent in a stoic and bloatedly tragic way. The troops are smeared in chalky, blue mud, lurching forward like crawling locomotives painted as a religious procession who's figures should slow to frozen forever, right there on the spot, like Rodin’s “Burghers of Calais.”
