Hello from a hotel room in New York City. I’m back in musical work world whip-lash fast out of recording for a new record. I’m a little spun. But it’s nice to be back in NYC in the crisp air with the bright sun slanting in through my windows and a coffee on the bedside table. When there is no time to do anything but what you are working on you have the luxury of not having to make decisions about your own life which is nice. I’m expected to make decisions about everything, so I like a regimented week of exact times and eating pretty much the same thing every day. The job is king, and the songs are who all of us on the team are working for. They own us outright. It’s a rather fulfilling on and off arrangement. Surfacing for air after feels that much sweeter. I can actually go home from the job unlike my own career, which is on all the time.
