Most people know what stereo imaging is – the left/right of your speakers or headphones. The sounds on the two sides are different but when played together they equal the complete mix. If you accidentally put them too far left or right the song doesn’t sound right, like your ears are playing tricks on you. You’ll notice, unless it’s a mono mix which is the same thing on both sides. The laptop I’m using to write this has a broken right speaker so all I hear is the mix on the left. There’s no way to fix it temporarily, but it’s O.K. ’cause I’m fascinated.
