I have always had a deep love for the Dumbo soundtrack. It might be some of Disney’s more complicated music. Sadly, but unsurprisingly, there are racist caricatures and other failings, then there is also Betty Noyes singing “Baby Mine”. It’s deeply flawed and in places deeply gorgeous.
Then, of course, there is the standalone composition “Pink Elephants on Parade”, perhaps the most terrifying piece of music ever written. And for children, no less.
