Thank you for these recent posts, Neko. They hit home so deep. It is SO exhausting to learn to become iron clad against it all, especially when people demand that we defend our experience like it’s some kind of stupid thesis instead of our lives. I also like to turn to John Trudell’s words in this way, when he spoke of protecting our spirits against the predatory energies.
May the beavers help us understand our work as survivors: together we build a lodge for our spirits, and over time we build up a dam that keeps the predatory energy out!
On a fun beaver-related note, in late September here in Minneapolis, we are throwing a whole beaver parade and festival to celebrate them, and to educate people about how to protect and advocate for our urban beaver friends!
Your light, strength and beautiful words rising above the hate and beavers are soothing to this insomniac. I had read such hateful unhinged comments about your post, super upsetting. Here you are with such grace.
Those comments were expected. They rolled in with the shrieky precision of seagulls at the dump. Which makes me the dump, but its funnier that way. Haha!
I read this while I drank my morning coffee, and then I took my dogs out for their walk. Thanks to your beavers, I decided to start my walk at the beaver/salmon stream down the hill. The beavers have built several dams up and down the length of this stream, creating a series of pools that the salmon can navigate.
This morning when I arrived at the first viewing area, I got to watch a brown bear and her cub fish for salmon!! Well, technically the mom was fishing. The cub was paddling along behind her, but I guess you have to start somewhere ❤️
Beautifully written, Neko. I agree 100%. Things are slowly moving in the proper direction. It’s very coincidental that your current project deals with sexual abuse and the tragic fall out.
I really appreciated that you spoke out about GF. It was very important and I’m glad to have read about your own experience. There were only a couple of people speaking out and yours was very much needed.
All my love to you as always. Happy about the beavers!🦫💕🌺🌸💐🦫
Woven through the joy of beavering, the sweet music of insectsong, continuing alongside all our human mess and unkindness. It’s the sound of nature’s constancy. Thank you for your words and these sounds and images.
I’ve started to think of you as The Crone of the Northeast Kingdom. Like all crones, your wisdom is hard won and I listen hard when you speak. Thank you for speaking.
Beaver news is always welcome here, the whole somatic response has never been more eloquently described as by your images, your words bring power, light and joy to my slightly crumpled soul.
So one year ago, I had no idea who Neko Case was. By chance, on a Muncie radio station playing over the Muncie weather tv channel, I hear about 20 seconds of a song. I stopped listening and just hoped I could latch on to enough of the lyric to look it up. So I Google "So please don't be afraid of me, oh my love". Wreck by Neko Case. Thus began a journey through her catalog and basically liking everything. I want to see her in Carmel, Indiana. I left wanting to see her again.
NOW. I am trying to get tickets thru her website. Desperately. But I am thwarted by axs.com. Different browsers and devices, and treated like a robot bringing down the site using DDOS. Any one else have this problem? Never been to Ryman and I thought what better place to see her, so I know this is off topic, but any help would be nice.
"no caliber of man up or shut up can match my strength." fucking fantastic words of inspiration! thank you again and again.
“I own every bell that tolls me”!

Lots of treasures at the dump. You’re the diamond. Ok now I’m thinking crows not seagulls. 😂

Thank you for speaking out. Having my own knives, I am greatly appreciative of your voice as always. And the beavers! <3

Thank you for your voice (in all the ways!), encouraging words, and animal videos (more of all please! 😊).
This is why you are the perfect choice to score Thelma and Louise. And thanks for sharing the beaver video - what a beautiful way to start the day.
Thank you for showing us your beaver ❤️
Baby beaver sounds are the best.
Thank you for speaking truth and the wonderful Beaver balm video.

My knives are a greyhound bus that runs 24/7. When I want to go, the bus is aways ready.
