Foxes and poop! Two of my favorite subjects. I love their statement poops. One time when we were excavating a site in the Aleutian Islands, my friend left her raincoat out at the site overnight. The next morning we found a fox poop placed perfectly inside the hood of the jacket, as though it had known that's exactly where she'd be placing her head to shield herself from the sideways Aleutian rain. Another time I found a monster brown bear poop with a fox turd carefully dropped right on top of the bear poop. Power move!

Hey Neko, whenever your Substack lands in my inbox, I’m happy to see it—no matter how regularly or irregularly it arrives. I hope I can see the musical in London. Or at least hear it somehow.

Best regards from Berlin.

Sending lots of healing for Coco! Thank you for being so generous with your time and advice in Greece. It truly was such an incredible experience. Weezie sure picked a great group of people to spend ten days together. Can’t wait to see Thelma and Louise!!

I’m beyond excited to report that I’ve booked my travel from Seattle to London to see Thelma & Louise in late October. Since seeing Neko play in a parking lot at SXSW in 2003, I haven’t missed an opportunity to see her tour and fortunately, I can make this trip work out thanks to saved up freaky flier miles and gracious friends who have offered me a place to stay. 🤠

Fantastic story about the new landlord. A more honest exchange than you'll get out of most landlords, really. Hope all continues to go well with Coco, Thelma, and Louise.

I missed you Neko but I am so excited about all your new contributions to the world! Got tickets for your Ryman show on October 30 and already I’m counting down! Best of luck with the play!

Better there than here, really. The fam back in Burlington reported smoky skies a few weeks back, then it hit here in Maryland a few days later. It was crazy. Hot hot hot 🌞 and “Code Purple” air quality alerts ‼️ You know when they pull out the royal colour it’s bad.

Good to see you here writing again, Neko!

Love to see this and hear your take on Greece! I can't get over what a magical and special place that was, and your "teacherly" efforts to lead and support were much appreciated and treasured. Would love to be able to get to the play at some point this fall, but from Oregon not long after the big Patmos adventure it's a big dream. Hopefully someday! Love the bit abiut the fox 🦊💜

Would love seeing your show, and I hear the Bayeux tapestry is in town too. You shouldn't miss that. Perhaps a little detecting is in order. Yes, but not the poop kind.

Oh my gosh! I'll be in London in early October and will find a way to see the show before heading back to Seattle.
