Man, I wouldn’t unsubscribe. It’s super micro philanthropy to support an artist. We are the receivers of your beautiful musings and observations. You aren’t a circus monkey. You are a beautiful soul who creates art. I am grateful to Enter the lung and listen to the sounds.
This was my graduation! Your honorary degree was awarded at the earlier ceremony but I was so happy to see you there. My best friend was undergrad student speaker at ceremony 2, and my close friend Andy was the one at ceremony one in the wizard-y NYU robes. Thanks for visiting! I love your work a lot. My boyfriend and I were geeking out.
Good morning Neko, I saw your post on the feed like an oasis on a desert horizon. I know you are an active busy soul and I never ever contemplate unsubscribing. I have been sick and unwell and kind of moping around since we got back from Europe. Perhaps a microbe from the old world journeyed with me, Jenny and I welcome Charlie a new Grandson and I am a dual grandfather now.
Two dogs are vying for my attention and the doves cooing always sound like human phrases, to who? To you! To you!
Also the OG Bedazzled is awesome and being Australian we had good British shows like Pete and Dud.
The leaping nuns fill my mind's eye.
So long old Media pal. I literally love your work.
Neko, if a few more folks have unsubscribed during your busy life time, please don't think it's anything to do with how often you've been posting. A lot of people have left Substack because of stuff the company is doing/not doing. So, no stress! And hey, thanks for writing so much about the sensory experience of the Vermont naturescape... I grew up there and now live in the UK, reading about the milkweed smell and hummingbirds and peepers brings so much joy!
This newsletter is always a beautiful soothe to my mind, and whenever it isn't coming in frequently, I know it's because your own mind is engaged in the world and that is also wonderful to know. Much love to you and to all your creatures and loves.
Congratulations on the ECUAD degree! Well deserved! I got the word from a friend that works there. I said you were their most famous alumnus (in general). It is terrible to hear that the Granville Island hotel treated you so poorly and great that you didn't let it continue.
your writing is always an inspiration to me, thank you! I have been missing it, but damn girl! I know you're crazy busy!
I've never smelled a horse, but now I want to, coz desert petrichor (duh!) goats smell great too, and of course puppy breath.
we're having a real spring here in georgia and I'm grateful for it, tho it's wacky we haven't hit 90 yet. had some lovely gentle rain overnight, gentle enough for drought dry ground to benefit.
I'm so glad to hear rosanne cash is alla that! I might love her dad more than any man ever.
thanx again for taking the time to share your world with us. more joy! all the joy to you!
It's funny, I just saw a video of someone swimming in the springs in Florida, and the water looked so pretty it was almost surreal, but I was thinking there must be creatures lurking in there that I'd want no part of. Specifically alligators and snakes. My suspicions are now confirmed. 😩

I'm with you on the snakes.
Sometimes you’re the hawk and sometimes you’re the snake, and sometimes you’re the universe looking on.
I LOVED reading this - will never unsubscribe and will always upgrade to paid when I get paid hahaha. Love you Neko!

I bet that hummingbird that flashed his neck feathers was testing the waters, ala Burt Reynolds showing a touch of chest hair to Sandy Duncan.
I saw that little hummingbird in my mind's eye as I read your description. Magic!
Nature is Nurture!
Thank you
To joy of seeing The Lung in my mailbox, always grateful to read your adventures and the encouragement to be positive ❤️

Nothing like a good old Gainesville gator dip! Your writing and music help connect me to the world. Thank you 💚
