Good morning from the first show day of tour. It’s always one of the scariest and most exciting. We have practiced our buns off and are ready to play. The first show is tender and we don’t do it just any old place. We will be making mistakes, playing new songs and in a new configuration of musical personnel. It’s a very vulnerable place to be. For this “1st night” we are in sweet Missoula Montana. I love playing here, especially butted up against the beginning of spring! People are ready to get out of the house with great enthusiasm. I relish this energy. It is so hopeful and even a little silly. Thank you, Montanans! Your zeal is most appreciated and you make us feel so welcome. You are so worth the three planes and fifteen hours it took to get here from Vermont.
I have been practicing so hard in fact, that I haven't had any opportunity to get out into nature. CRAP. But it’s ok. I’ll get over it. The mountains are so near I breathe them in anyway. They smell clarifying and wise, they’ve seen it all and have forgotten nothing. They will tell you all about it if your heart is tender and you are ready to hear it. There is a lot of tragedy in their beauty too.
I am running in mid air, waiting for the ground to come up to my feet. For my companions and I to start our winding bus journey to some of my favorite places across the west. There will be belly laughs and exhaustion, highs and lows, monotony, old friends’ bright faces and some welcome sunshine. We are here for you in this hard time of genocide and war and political human darkness. We need you too. Come and laugh and cry and meet friends and generate some positivity. We are a powerful engine together. Let us complete the circuit we were meant to and elevate our spirits to better heal and thrive. I love you. Let’s spread it around :)
Here is our tour schedule (just scroll down), I humbly invite you to share some of our joy.
First day fuel: The darkest coffee I have ever been served! YES!
Dark coffee and fresh rolls? EVERY DAY
Looking forward to seeing and hearing you in Santa Fe and OK City. My 85 year old mother and I will be driving home from Palm Desert to Traverse City, MI. After your shows we will catch the solar eclipse in AK and Jobi Riccio with the Wood Brothers in Memphis before heading north. It’s going to be a great road trip😀💗☀️🌈☮️
