Thank goodness the peeper frogs poked their little nose holes above water before I left for tour! Missing spring at home in Vermont hurts a great deal, but I’m so glad these little guys made an appearance! I literally recorded the FIRST peeper of the year to start calling! Below is a sample. Following is an example of what they sound like in full mating boil. Yes, I actually made that sound disgusting, which it isn’t. Haha! Sorry…
Yep, living here on Big Island now and those little coquis are impressively loud for being such tiny fuckers. Oooopssss. I said that out loud! But it's sooo true!
I love me them coquis (be they natives or “invasives”). I have a pleasant relationship with them, not to mention, they hold sacred Medicine ... enter the “Coqui Cleansing Choir”
(thanks for the audio Neko)
🎶waaaaaaahhhhh🎶
“Sing Frog sing!
Call the rains,
Quench the dryness,
Cleanse the Earth,
Then fill me up again”
FROG MEDICINE: CLEANSING
“Frog sings the songs that bring the rain and make the dirt road more bearable (Good Red Road) ... Frog teaches us to honor our tears, for they cleanse the Soul. ... Frog, like ourselves, is a pollywog in the fetal waters, and only learns (integrates) to hop after it experiences the world of fluidity. ... The key thought is to find a way to rid yourself of distractions and to replace the mud with clear energy. ... We are asked to know when it is time to refresh, purify, and refill the coffers of the Soul.” ~ Jamie Sams 🤙🏼💜✌🏼
I LOVE the spring peepers! I'm not sure if we have them here in Washington, I just moved here last fall. I have heard the pacific tree frogs singing, though, and found a few by flipping over logs.
It's not offically spring until I hear peepers....ususally around April 1st here in southern CT....also, you have a few wood frogs calling too. Happy Spring :-)
Saw you(New Pornographers) in Asheville @Salvage Station. Y’all were terrific as usual. Had to go get the new LP . I also played you on my radio show today. Should give me a listen sometime. Mike
Ribeting!
HA! Very punny.
Marais La Nuit!
Reminds me of the coqui frogs on the Big Island, except those are invasive. So so loud!

My brothers grew up there and the last visit (around 5 years ago) was the first time I heard them. They made fast business of their invasion.
