"They're so ready to be alive!" ❤️

I've been hearing the red-winged blackbirds for a couple weeks. Finally heard the peepers yesterday, at the wetlands down the road. AND THEN I heard the first woodcock of the season, last night.

WINTER IS OVER! (I'm still cold.)

Fun fact: frogs were the first land animals with vocal cords!

It's fun to listen to (and record) them in Elkmont campground in the Smokies. There's one spot shielded from the trickle and roar of Little River. Once a bee landed on the mic, which sounded exactly like you think.

They don't call them "Spring Peepers" for nothin'. Back in OK growing up I remember the spring Peepers sounding off, and cracking ice off puddles to find the water beneath writhing with thousands of brightly colored Tiger Salamanders...Yay, amphibians, harbingers of spring!

My Sunday morning is unwind time. Strong San Antonio blend coffee. Punk Rock reading and serenades by my little buddy, Wren. Smallest bird with the LOUDEST voice.

I never imagined posting a comment that Sir Neko would ever conceivably be aware of, and especially one where I would disagree with Neko...but spring peepers are adults calling for breeding opportunities, not baby frogs...though I do believe they have recently emerged from hibernation

Waiting for mine to erupt here in Alberta. Soon soon. It sounds like the earth breathing.

Thanks for this moment of nature of something I don’t get to experience. Currently my sounds are wind, sand hitting windows.

Thanks for sharing that, I've been listening to our peepers for about a week in southern Vermont. I'm now waiting to hear the Canada geese returning.

The peepers are peeping! I love being showered in their calls, it's one of my favorite sounds.
