By the time you read this I will be flying home from out west. I was there to write songs away from home with Paul. Being home is great but sometimes it can be a little too distracting to get work done. Everything around me at home seems unfinished or hungry and needs my attention. This trip, however, the world is so dark I am just too sad to get much done. The future doesn’t seem to promise much. I know that isn’t true but…
I'll add to the metaphor: Artists reflect light in darkness. It is a shame, though, that they are more sensitive to the dark. I'm sorry, Neko, that you have to deal with that.
Yeah, the world is a dark place at the moment. I’ve had a week off from work this week (fall break) and I’ve been walking in the forest picking mushrooms a lot...it is so nice and calm out there that I kinda wish I disappeared there.
Thank you for the distraction. Much appreciated. Take care❤️
I work at a movie theater in Chapel Hill, NC where we are currently playing a film festival for Jewish films. It was planned before current events. It's been stressful, but we are making it happen, making it safe. We have strong Jewish and Muslim ties in this community. We are not going to let anyone down, and we are doing everything we can to protect everyone. Just look at our favorite restaurant, Mediterranean Deli, which burned down this summer. The owner, Jamil, is from Syria. We welcome everyone here. Yes, we still have violence against different cultures sometimes, but most of us welcome everyone. It's not hopeless, but yes, it is sad what is happening right now. It doesn't mean we can stop helping everyone who is willing to live without violence. We must continue to hope.
It is such a sad time, and I hope that you, and all the rest of us who feel it too, can find out way through it. I really appreciate your willingness to name the rawness for what it is, plainly, without the need to wax philosophical about it. It deserves to be felt rather than explained away. That's a rare talent these days. Thank you for that. Also, thank you for the clip of the new song; it sounds intriguing. I'm looking forward to hearing the whole thing.
The world goes ever darker, we fight with what light we have. Art. Music. Nature. Community. We fail only when we stop showing up.
you know wendy too? she's the best! love this clip. 🩷

In the words of Craig Finn from The Hold Steady - "You wouldn't be so impressed with the sunrise. If it wasn't for the darkness"
After the racist No vote in Australia, frankly it feels futile have any feelings at all. Gutted and ashamed.

Thanks, Neko.
We just have to keep lighting candles and stepping forward.
Knowing that you’re making new music is a bright spot in this world for me.
❤️❤️❤️
The song is so soothing.
Love your voice. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Sounds great! Thank you.
The political global security world is fucked up, may get better, or maybe...
But what we have and the fuckers can’t take away is artists making art and we can take some pleasure in what they create.
We also have the freedom to get some agency by uniting -- if we choose to do so.
This bit of music certainly made my day a bit brighter. Thank you for sharing with us all.
