I once was hanging a humming bird feeder while standing on a ladder in a bikini top and a rufous female came over and tried to suck nectar out of my belly button!!! I kept pulling back (those beaks look SHARP) and almost fell off the ladder!
I think the course of just "paying attention" and "noticing" has produced a reaction that seems to be the closest to pure joy in Ms Case's muse that I'm aware of. And, that's a good thing. Here in the high desert of California, I am noticing a lot of growth of new Century Plants popping up through the rocks, stones and pebbles that make up my landscaping. A bit of rain, and the desert returns a bit of something...
Oh, this was a fantastic mind vacation. I think I could read entire encyclopedia of you describing your property. I can hear it, feel the breeze on my face.
Hi Neko , I wish I could see hummingbirds again, I saw my first in a wild meadow dotted with fumaroles near Crater Lake, then second time at Apgar in Glacier Park. I'm sure there are Aussie critters that captivated you as well.
Ms. Case, as a Chet fan club member, I must say this. I see an outstanding provider, with a can-do attitude, burdened with all these kittens, miceless, and he hunts, puts out...,serves natural, free, high protein, meals to the youngsters. We're not too concerned with a damn piano key lady, ok! Chet over butterflies! C'mon.
