Neko! I had the pleasure & honor of photographing you for Iowa City's Little Village Magazine during the Mission Creek Festival. It was a peak moment for sure. Funny that you mentioned vultures -- I wondered if I would get to meet you (I did not, obvs) and if I did I was going to invite you to meet the birds of prey I work with, including my best bird bud, a turkey vulture named Gonzo. Maybe next time. Or when you move to Iowa City.

How can so many disgusting things happen to one person in such a short span of time!? 😂 Glad the book dates were great!

That's too bad you had so much trouble with air travel Saturday-Sunday.

The booktalk was great and I could have stayed longer, you are quite entertaining, and certainly bring out a lot of insights.

As we were waiting for the doors to open, we spoke with a lot of other people who had driven to the show and we all had different storm-related experiences. One girl had come from Savannah, and said she'd come through some really strong winds and rain. She said she's a hard core fan of yours and has seen a lot of your shows. Pam and I told her we saw you at an outdoor venue on the North side of Atlanta, when you were opening for "My Morning Jacket". We were there to hear you, and were disappointed the venue didn't have a better sound system, which is essential for a singer like you. The girl from Savannah said she did see you once in a very small club with great accoustics, and it was an amazingly good show.

I gave the folks from the bookstore one of my copies of Stanley Tucci's new book to pass along to you. Hope you got that "Flat Duo Jets" T-shirt too.

Thanks for coming back to Atlanta,

Dennis Groseclose

“I saw a bluebird of such a startling hue it hurt my feelings.”

I’m f’king here for this, Neko! And everything else you share with us, obviously, but this? So startling it hurt my feelings!!

My lexicon just leveled the feck up with ‘golfy dishrag.’ Ever the wordsmith, Neko. Lord, even better because the Masters are this weekend 🤣 Don’t get me started on lounge lizards and gate flies. This shit makes me want to ride a horse anywhere I go and just plan accordingly.

Good morning Neko, the description of travel in the supposed luxury of modern airlines is a superb and evocative one, I can almost smell the poopmayotuna!

I flew to Tasmania recently and people were very polite, Hobart airport is like a small towns airport and that was fine, I don't love the journey but usually revel in the destination.

Give Coco a pat from the faithful correspondent down under.

The travel nightmares. God. WTF is wrong with people? I commuted into NYC every day for 35 years, so your story has some real resonance with me!

Wow, my travel home from Italy last weekend wasn't nearly as fraught, but can anyone tell me why Air Lingus (the Irish Airline) does not serve ANY IRISH Beer or stout on their airplanes? Also - speaking of books to read, I'm almost through this heartbreaking account of history no one was ever taught in school (thanks to your recommendation): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/An_Indigenous_Peoples'_History_of_the_United_States

My friend and I loved seeing you in Atlanta and were delighted to hear your favorite bird is the mighty vulture. We love them too. Thank you for your efforts! Your book really resonated with me so it was very cool to hear you speak more about it.

I'm astounded how' America the great' can't organise plane travel, the provision of healthy food at airports (or universal free health care for that matter) the horror stories about American airports and plane travel never cease to amaze

Melissa Febos is wonderful. I did a writing workshop with her and she’s so generous and smart. Abandon Me is insanely good.

That's great the Book Tour was a good experience and the writers sound amazing! I have been belly laughing loudly about the kiddie and Dad story ( and yelling Gross, Holy crap , etc .) , and had to stop reading ! Thanks for the laugh! Now I will read the rest of it. Have a great weekend 😁
