April in Paris is often FREEZING. I'll take April in N'awlins, too. And yes, Tipitina's is an American treasure. I was beyond fortunate to see Dr. John & Allen Toussaint there on my first visit in 1980.

Fine writer and reader of Substack—we are starting a movement to get a poetry section added to the platform. Can I ask, are you with us?

If so, please consider clicking the above link and liking the Notes post—leave a comment or even share within your own community. Poetry lives on in the minds of hearts of writers, it breathes on the page.

Your voice can be heard among the starry illuminations, howling at the moon.

Thank you for your time and support.

Love and appreciation,

David

Thanks for panning. I was having a hard time figuring out exactly how those chickens and roosters fit in.

My favorite US city!! I flew there from Michigan once just to see Amanda Palmer at One Eyed Jack's, if I had the fun tokens today I'd buy a ticket to see you there, surrounded by that bayou magic.

Have always appreciated that both you and The NP’s stop here regularly on your respective tours. I was fortunate enough to see the show at the Preservation Hall and will always cherish that memory. We’re not exactly on the beaten path and too many bands typically pass us by.

Tipitinas is a great club; have a Wayback Machine recording of a North Mississippi Allstars performance there including Old Dad and a number of other Mississippi bluesmen performing there. On the other hand, visit NOLA in mid-summer when it's a 110, 100 percent humidity and it hasn't started raining yet. Like visiting Death Valley in August, there's something to be said for it, but not much and none of it really good.

New Orleans has a piece of my soul. Magical, beautiful place but the people are what make it special and unlike anywhere I’ve ever been. 💜

I was excited to be at The Paramount Theater in Austin last night. The 2nd time this year to see you perform in that cool venue.

Thank you for this. Soon after our 50th anniversary trip to Spain and Italy, my late wife and I planned a trip to New Orleans, with a possible visit to see old colleagues in Houston. Sadly, it never happened.
