Many, many decades ago, while living in Manhattan, I loved 4:00 AM, the only time of day when pretty much nothing was happening.

This was the time I started being unable to sleep through the night. Occasionally, if I woke up around 4, I’d walk down to the avenue to see the nothingness…

Would be great if for my wellbeing if I could move back…

Neko! You are so damn right on! I share your holiday feelings. No pressure. No buying dumb stuff out of desperation. No driving round in cold pouring rain looking for parking. We’ve got love and that’s all that is needed. You’re the best!

I like buying things for people when something screams their name, you know? Not because it's Christmas

Dear Neko,

I’m not sure how you manage to keep so many balls in the air (somebody help me with a terrible metaphor), but I cannot express how much your work means to me. I’ve been awed since I first heard you on a bloodshot comp.

I can so relate to this. I have to go into NYC for work a few times a year. I used to love the energy. Now, I just want to hang out with my animals and my son on my little 3 acres in my one stoplight village. I’m over the holidays and my hips hurt. Thank you for taking the time to write this.

Neko, are big Cokes like that one around $10 now? Last time I visited NY, my version of your comfort omlet was my first $17 Ceasar salad at the hotel (anchovies were not included). I did like getting the big slices of pizza or a bagel from the cart vendors.

I love the reflection of your messy coffee table in your office party pic. Mundane things inadvertently captured are where my love of photography and voyeurism intersect. Not in a creepy way, but like oh, there’s Jon Lydon’’s tv remote.

Wishing you a wonderful day at home with all of your furry friends.

When covid was keeping us confined, I decided to go into the NYC and visit MOMA, after I got vaccinated. The streets were almost empty. A man screaming

nonsensical obscenities wandered out onto 5th Ave. There was a cop standing on the sidewalk

watching the man and he had a half smile on his face and his arms crossed across his chest. He made no attempts to get the man out of the street, because there was no traffic. I watched, standing by myself on the empty sidewalk. It was surreal.
